At evol Marketing we are continually reviewing peoples websites, their online presence and current marketing. Too often I see outbound links and image links to random local directories, like the link I found for this directory to the right. I clicked the image link to see what information is there about the business I was reviewing and they were not even on the page. Instead there were four other law firms in the area.
Lucky for this particular business they have not done any much internet marketing and have had a low traffic volume, but for many others this can and is costing your business a lot money and potential customers.
What not to do to avoid this happening to you:
- Don’t add image links to your site for directories.
- If you add a link make sure it goes directly to your page on that website.
- Avoid links to the following sites: elocal, kudzu, Angies list, service star, home advisor and in some cases your local BBB.
Outbound links are good and can be bad. it is recommended to discuss outbound linking of any sorts with your internet marketing company before having them added to your website.
