How Pay Per Click Works

Google looks at several other items and places them all into an equation to find your ad position in real time, for a particular search term you are trying to show up for, and places your ad in that position. You only pay if someone clicks on your ad. What you actually pay depends on what the ad below yours Max Cost per click is, plus the other items in the equation to either discount or increase that cost. At the most basic level, assuming the only difference is the max cost per click, you will pay one cent more than their max cost per click.
